The Guide to the Weekend

Saturday Coverage

The weekend brings us solid plays across the board, some soccer Saturday morning, a little Sunday NASCAR and rounds itself out with some solid hockey match-ups.

We have two games on the slate Saturday I want to isolate and target heavily.

First things first Soccer-

Chelsea v. Swansea (@Stamford Bridge)

Chelsea at home is an ABSOLUTE WRECKING BALL, they are 11-1 at home and that one loss was to Liverpool, the strongest scoring team in the EPL (tied with Arsenal). 7 of their last 9 home matches they were leading at half AND full time and they have won their last 9 at home.  With Tottenham now out of the Europa Chelsea will have to expand on the point differential immediately with the Spurs, Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool trying to challenge for the top. Getting to the pick specific stat; Chelsea’s first half goal differential is 14-2 at home. Lay it on the line with the Blues.

PICK: Chelsea first Half (-165)

Second Play of Saturday-

Penguins v. Flyers (@Pittsburgh)

The Penguins are 24-4-3 at home (Best in NHL – 77.4% win percentage)… IF that isn’t enough to convince you to take the Penguins lets continue.  The Flyers are the 7th worst in the NHL on the road with an abysmal 11-15-3 record (62% loss percentage). Trailing the Caps by 5 points in the standings the pens are taking advantage of every single home game to make sure they are locked up with an easy match-up come the first round. With both teams coming off long breaks and the Flyers clawing to find goals as of late this should be a sure shot for the Pens coming off a 3-1 win against the Hurricanes on Tuesday while the Flyers dropped their last game 4-1 to the Capitals Wednesday. Even though Letang is out, this team still looks good.

PICK: Penguins to win straight out.
